Lest you think this blog is all about Melly, here is a post from me. It's a post long-overdue, but work and social events and wedding planning have been consuming my time.
Speaking of wedding planning, I decided a couple months ago that I wanted to keep one family tradition and not buy a dress. I'm making my dress - myself. My fiance thinks I'm a little crazy, and the people who have found out think I'm either amazingly talented or possibly have a screw loose. Anyway, I've been working on finalizing the pattern on paper and making a muslin to perfect the fit. More to come in a couple weeks...

Pattern making on the dining room table

Trying on the muslin
Horsehair trim paperclipped onto the hem, and the extra swirled on the floor (it makes the hem stand out just a little and makes the skirt lay beautifully)

Wearing the muslin - with ruching at the waist
